Just tore up the carpet, and we can't afford any kind of fancy flooring atm, so what is a good paint for cement to make it look nice and like a floor? What kind of paint can I use on the cement floor in our living room?
Something like this Drylok latex paint can give you are really cool look and is relatively cheap. http://www.ugl.com/drylokMasonry/floorAn鈥?/a>

Use a nice shade of concrete stain, paint might not adhere, or else you could prime the floor first I guess. But then you would need a top coat to seal it too, ick. A stain is cheaper and they have some very pretty shades to choose from. I would suggest picking a stain that compliments any area rug or furniture you already have. A nice neutral brown would look good, with a soft area rug for a more classic look.
Epoxy paint would be good for this but it would require a few days of ';airing out'; before you would be comfortable living with it. It is very durable, made for concrete, easy to apply and you can add different types of ';chips'; that you sprinkle on the paint before it dries to give it some extra color.
