I want to pull up the carpet in my bedroom %26amp; paint the floor(concrete) that is underneath. What all do I need to do this?
Trying to save money so this is more of a DIY project. What all do I need to take up carpet %26amp; paint the cement that is underneath?
Don't do it. Total Nightmare! I tried it, and the worst part of it was trying too remove the glue stains, used as adhesive for the carpet, from the concrete. The whole experience ended up being more labor and cost more $ than buying tile or snap in place wood or imitation wood flooring. The chemicals involved are highly toxic. If done correctly with the proper materials, concrete staining can be beautiful, though practice makes perfect. What all do I need to take up carpet %26amp; paint the cement that is underneath?
You can save money doing it yourself. I would suggest you go to a local Paint store (not home improvement store) and ask them for product suggestions. I typically suggest using a product that requires the floor etched. These products are stronger, longer lasting, and more restistant to the things you will put them through. Epoxies works really well, or you can use concrete stains.
You will need a roll away or another way to discard the carpet, acid etching will help remove the glue.
